Hello Everyone! I have been very terrible at posting this year and I really apologize. So much has happened since December's post.
I have completed all of our mandated reading testing for the state and the city through MClass. I will be sending home information about this test in the upcoming weeks. This will give you some information about your child as a reader.
We have been working on an Economics unit in Integrated Literacy. We have studied needs and wants, how families meet their needs and wants. We have learned about spending money and saving money as well as the jobs different people in our community and family have. Our next and last part of the unit will focus on producers and consumers. We will make some paper products in our classroom and sell them to the consumers in our room. Students will work in teams and make a business plan. I'm really excited to see their imaginations at work!
In math we have been learning many new topics: place value, coins, greater than less than, and adding two digit numbers. We will be taking our next test this week. The students are also working on number scrolls. They are practicing writing numbers over 100 into the thousands. They are really into them. The kids who create the longest number scrolls will be shown on the blog.
We also celebrated the 100th day of school last week. It was a blast! Here are a few pictures of the fun:
